digital photography

A few years ago after the analog photography changed more and more to digital photography, I still belonged to the somewhat "old fashioned" photographers , who did hard with this new technology. I had still the good old training behind me with photos on negatives then to make photographic prints on paper size in the darkroom, retouching and even negative retouching, color filter, and all photographic and editing techniques used in photography were customary. The move to digital photography started during my work in the University Hospital as a photographer. Suddenly there was a computer and i didnt really knew how to work with it. How many hours I've spent only to learn from my mistakes and step by step I started "learning by doing". Also the normal use of the PC was new for me. After several attempts I recorded successes and slowly I started the new way of photography to learn and appreciate.

glass and colour.005

With glass you can play and let your imagination flow.A blue moon glowing in the night. Something unknown, shining in a strange, soft light. Like a big soap- bubble or something out of the ocean. Sometimes it looks hard and rough and sometimes as smooth as a mirror - like the ocean without wind - very calm, soft and quiet.
A wave in the sand, water on the beach,or simply glass with a coloured background. For sure is: it looks beautiful to give special highlights to a material like glass - no matter which light or lamps you use or which background. It looks amazing to look through the material and to see many things behind - like landscapes we create by our own minds....

glass and colour.004

Glass - a simple material can look precious and expensive. Sometimes it reminds of jewellery - reflections like a wonderful opal though its only the reflection of the sky or the sun. For me it has the same beauty like a diamond if the light let it shine in a perfect way....the most expensive things must not be always the most beautiful ones.

What is this...a blue wave maybe,it reminds of crystal clear water like the agean sea or a sunrise over the pacific ocean. The surface looks like the calm sea in the evening, when sailing boats go back to their harbour and silence spreads its wings over the landscape. The water reflects the colours of the sky and invites to take a bath after a warm and nice summer day....

A hard material can look soft and smooth. Like water and even like a whole landscape - the sea, sand, sky and a far away horizon. All illuminated by the moon - or sunlight. It depends on the colours and the light I use. Sometimes its nice to make the photos and to see the real results later on the computer and before only at the display of the camera. Its often a surprise how it looks and what imaginations i have when I see this material in such different positions and illuminations.

Glass and colour.
Reflections of light, new views of different things, illumination, ideas of the blue sea, burning fire, crystal clear views, waves of light and colour. All this and more fascinates me and thats why i love this theme in all its endless variations. It inspires phantasy, it can relax your eyes and mind and even the smallest thing can turn into a phantastic and giant impression.

Skin and hair.009

Something unknown - or not? The colour of the skin shows it is human - or maybe it isnt. Dont trust your eyes always...
Sunlight gives different colours. Brown, yellow, even gold appears on the skin when the sun shines on it. And the light discovers or hides - it depends how strong it is and from which direction the object is illuminated.

This photography talks for itself - no explanation needed. But everybody will admit that it is a nice "curve" always to show in a clear photo - without anything to hide or to to change by colours or any "accessories".

Skin and hair.006

And this? Skin with shadows, a close - up from a .... no - better let your phantasy play - this is a nice photo theme to use our imagination. At close - ups you see all - small lines, spots, or very fine hair. All what you dont see easily when you look with your eyes "only" and not through the lense of a camera. And what was the nice and true saying ? The optical lense is always incorruptible....

Colour can show a mood, feelings, it doesn`t reduce or minimize the situation or the person like black and white can do. It personalizes the picture of a person. I prefer black and white most times but in some cases the photo or portrait appears more bright and cheerful.

Skin and hair.004

why not making a photo of a nice back - view like this.... and without coulours its even more interesting cause nothing turns away the view from the main things - the skin and its shading in a "right" light.

Skin and hair. 003

A body looks like a landscape with lights and shadows, hills and valleys, dark parts and light and bright ones. We can "feel" with our eyes too and see how beautiful every part of the human body can be when you put it in the right perspective. No matter if somebody is slim or not - everybody is beautiful with an own personality and everyone has his or her special "beautiful parts". Of course we all should have an eye for it - and not only at photos... in real life too!

skin and hair.002

Fingers and skin - where is it exactly? It doesnt matter - it shows only a small cut of the body - and another way of watching things than the usual one.

Skin and hair.001

Skin and hair - photos i prefer in black and white. Its simple and pure and shows the important and main things i want to show with my photos. Sometimes colour - but not too much. The skin shows so many different things: wrinkles, curves, hair, shadow and light, different perspectives. Very small things become big or even giant in a close - up photo. Some parts of the body are easy to recognize - others you maybe dont know what it is or where it is.
